zshortyz
Would the SA-12 be okay running 1000w in the right box and correct gains? and also what would the "right box" be?
speedball1978
If you know what your doing you should be ok ...but if you have clue then leave it with 600w
speedball1978
You could always upgrade to the spl coil
zshortyz
well i have this amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23875_MB-Quart-ONX1.1500D.html#tabs and pulled the trigger on the 4ohm sa-12 figuring if i have room in the future to add another, but were talking 6-12 months, it is going to be "professionally installed" and tuned as i don't want to have to deal with all the electrical components of the bmw. the specs say 1.75 ft^3 ported tuned to 30 Hz -- F3 of 26 Hz * Tune higher and use a smaller box for more SPL oriented setup (Use 1 - 1.5 cubes) * Enclosure can be as big as 2.25 ft^3 with lower power levels so if say i found a box like http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_19279_Sonic-Sub-Box-1SV12-Black-Carpet.html says 1.8F^3 would that be good? or do you recommend something different for 1k w? LoudBimmer
I'm running 2 SA-10's on saz 2500 and they take it fine. I seen other members running 2 SA-12's on saz3500 @.5 ohm without any problems.

fmedina
well i have this amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23875_MB-Quart-ONX1.1500D.html#tabs and pulled the trigger on the 4ohm sa-12 figuring if i have room in the future to add another, but were talking 6-12 months, it is going to be "professionally installed" and tuned as i don't want to have to deal with all the electrical components of the bmw. the specs say 1.75 ft^3 ported tuned to 30 Hz -- F3 of 26 Hz * Tune higher and use a smaller box for more SPL oriented setup (Use 1 - 1.5 cubes) * Enclosure can be as big as 2.25 ft^3 with lower power levels so if say i found a box like http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_19279_Sonic-Sub-Box-1SV12-Black-Carpet.html says 1.8F^3 would that be good? or do you recommend something different for 1k w? im guessing youre wiring it to 2ohms. and i doubt that amp will put out the 1k its rated at. i would wire it to 1ohm with that amp if you havent gotten the sub yet and build a box at around 1.5-1.75 cubes. sa's can take the heat like no other Edited November 30, 2011 by fmedina
BeAlLsTaR13
You could always upgrade to the spl coil i wouldnt recommend the SPL coils if hes looking for more of a daily applicaton and OP, IMO your best bet is to build your own box from a proper design, that'll give you best results i had my pair of SA12s in boxes ranging from 3.5 cubes, up to 4.6 cubes on my saz3500d @ .5, daily without any issues, so box size can be as big as 1.75 up to about 2.25 or so my girlfriend has a single sa12 in her car on 1000w in a box thats 1.97 cubes tuned to 33hz, its actually on the mbquart 1000.1, the smaller version of the one you linked: Quote Team Sundown Audio**CURRENT** -- 2012 Scion tC Build Click Here **OLD** -- 2002 Pontiac Grand AM Build Click Herecheck them out, slap me a comment2002 Pontiac Grand AM SE 2.2l 4 cylinder ecotec.-------------------------------------------------------------------Head Unit - Alpine CDA-9887Subs - 2x Z 12 v.2s - v.3 + NS Soft partsAmplifier - Sundown Audio SAZ-3500DEnclosure - 3.33 Cubes tuned to 34.66hzFront Stage - JBL P660c 6.5" ComponentsRear Deck - Powerbass 4xl 6.5" Mid-RangeFront Stage Amplifier - Sundown Audio SAX-100.4DWires - Kicker Hyperflex 1/0, KnuKonceptz 1/0, Knu 4 and 8 Gauge, Kicker RCAsElectrical - 275 AMP DC Power H/O Alternator, XS Power S3400, XS Power D2700Videos - http://www.youtube.com/user/BeAILsTaR13-------------------------------------------------------------------
fmedina
then again this is one of those "if you need to ask" situation. if you dont have experience with overpowering a sub then i would recommend not giving it more than 850rms
zshortyz
then again this is one of those "if you need to ask" situation. if you dont have experience with overpowering a sub then i would recommend not giving it more than 850rms well i already had the amp thats why so i was wondering if the sa-12 could take 1000w because it was on sale and fit the budget i was in, and the main reason i heard all the good reviews on it and how it had underrated rms power
