Home audio setup help

Recommended Posts

Ok, i want to do a decent audio set up, nothing crazy, just something that will sound good. Mainly what i need help with is matching a mid to a tweeter (this will be for music listening, not REAL low bass needed, im not going to listen to decaf on it).

Real questions:

1. How do you go about matching a mid to a tweeter (to go on 1 channel together(passive))

2. What kind of wiring (hot to wire the mid and tweet)

dont worry about the power, mainly what i need is above.

well i think i know what you are talking about. as far as matching a mid and a tweet as far as brand wise i have no idea. but i would use a crossover network to wire the mids and tweets. that way you should get the most out of your speakers and your music.

Its not an easy thing to do. You can junmp on diy speaker project forumns an see what other people are doing an copy there projects , partsexpress offers mid ,tweet, crossover kits. But to do everything from scratch its going to take lots of knoledge and parts to keep swaping out resistors , aircores etc to make the speakers sound right an even.

i have come to realize its not just a do this then that kind of deal. Ive been reading for a few hours, some of the stuff is just hard to comprehend. much different than cars. partsexpress is where i get my stuff though, or will get what i will eventually use. and you have to factor in, i am by no means a SQ guy, and have never heard a true true SQ set up, so sounding good to me is different from someone elses stand point.

im going to look through the parts express projects, for something a little more straight forward and pre planned out, to get started.
