The "1500" watts amplifier CHALLENGE!!!

Hey guys, since i don´t feel like doing much work in my explorer right now because i have to work 24/7 and many hours per day, i´m starting this amplifiers challenge in a couple of days, i´ve collected amplifiers from a few friends, dealers and some owned by me, this are the amplifiers that i have for the challenge:

- Digital Designs M1b : 1200 watts

- Digital Designs M2a : 1600 watts

- Audiopipe AP1500.1 : 1500 watts

- Hifonics bxi1610D : 1600 watts

- Cadence 1600 watts

- MTX 1501D : 1500 watts

- Hifonics BRZ1200.1 : 1200 watts

- Cadence Phoenix : 1200 watts

- DB Drive 1200 watts

- MTE Audio : 1500 watts (chinese board)

I´m still waiting for some confirmation about a Rockford fosgate 1500 watts amplifier and a soundstream picasso 1500.1 , if there´s more amplifiers i´ll announce it hehe.

Electrical:

Single kinetik HC2400 battery

4 runs of 0 gauge

Mechman 270A alternator

Box and subs:

2 Digital Designs 2512 D2´s

5.8 cubic feet tuned @ 38 hz

3 6" Aeros

All the amplifiers are gonna wired at .5 ohms, that´s why i looked only for amplifiers that give their minimum impedance specs at 1 ohm, so after impedance rise we can test close to that; Test will have clamp results and termlab scores , wich isn´t the most important of those 2 points anyways but it´s fun though. IMPORTANT NOTE, there´s no way i can measure distortion on this test, maybe one of the amplifiers can give you the most power but it does it with a lot of distortion lol, said that, there´s 2 ways i can test this:

1) Set the gains with a O-scope.

2) Set the gains around 3/4 of the amplifier full capacity and just roll up the volumen when i´m burping.

Any advices, tips and inputs are welcome for this :)

Update!!! Results from the test :)

I just read the entire thread...I decided to compile the results so far

Audiopipe AP1500.1 (1500 @ 14.4v)

Hifonics BRZ1200.1 (1200 @ 14.4v)

Digital Designs M1b (1200 @ 11.9v)

Digital Designs M2a (1600 @ 11.9v)

Cadence ZRS 7500D (1800 @ ??)

Hifonics BXI1608D (1600 @ 14.4v)

Rockford Fosgate T1500.1 (1500 @ ??)

Hifonics BXI1610D (1600 @ 14.4v)

***************************

Audiopipe 1500.1 *TL score -146.58 @ 42hz*

Clamp results :

Voltage drop: 13.6v

44.6 Volts

41.7 Amps

44.6 x 41.7 = 1859 watts

44.6 / 41.7 = 1.06 ohms

***************************

Hifonics BRZ1200.1 *TL score -145.7 @ 42hz*

Clamp results:

Voltage drop : 13.9.v

39.2 Volts

35.5 Amps

39.2 x 35.5 = 1391 watts

39.2 / 35.5 = 1.1 ohms

***************************

Digital Designs M1b *TL score -147.8 @ 42hz*

Clamp results :

Voltage drop: 13.5v

49.1 Volts

45 Amps

49.1 x 45 = 2209 watts

49.1 / 45 = 1.08 ohms

***************************

Digital Designs M2a *TL score -148.5 @ 42hz*

Clamp results:

Voltage drop : 13.2v

52.1 volts

48.1 amps

52.1 x 48.1 = 2506 watts

52.1 / 48.1 = 1.08

***************************

Cadence ZRS 7500D *TL score -147.3 @ 41hz*

Clamp results:

46.7 Volts

43.5 Amps

46.7 x 43.5 = 2031 Watts RMS

46.7 / 43.5 = 1.07 ohms

Voltage Drop : 13.7v

***************************

Hifonics BXI1608D *TL score -146.7 @ 42hz*

Clamp results:

43.3 Volts

42.2 Amps

43.3 x 42.2 = 1819 Watts RMS

43.3 /42.2 = 1.03 Ohms

Voltage Drops : 13.8v

***************************

Rockford Fosgate T1500.1 *TL score -147.4 @ 41hz*

Clamp results:

46.9 Volts

44.3 Amps

46.9 x 44.3 = 2078 Watts RMS

46.9 / 44.3 = 1.06 ohms

Voltage drop : 13.9v

***************************

Hifonics BXI1610D *TL score -146.6 @ 42hz*

Clamp results:

41.9 Volts

41.2 Amps

41.9 x 41.2 = 1726 Watts RMS

41.9 /41.2 = 1.02 Ohms

Voltage Drops : 13.8v

Yep, that m2a it´s a beast that´s why i love it so much (it´s mine hehe) , i´m seriously trying to get the RF amplifier since i know it´s a monster for sure, i also used the MTX for a couple of months and was amazed by it, this should be fun, should help a few people trying to get an amplifier around that wattage without spending lots of money, i´m exited to compare the audiopipe vs all the other amps lol

By the way, there´s also about 8 amplifiers waiting for the 2000-2400 watts amplifier challenge already :)

Well, shipping would cost a fortune lol, but it´s cool, i have acces to an O-scope and we could set the gains with that, but there´s something i´ve experimented a few times before when i use an O-scope, i don´t have any distortion but 80% of the times i get quieter, specially when it´s for burp porpouses lol

Yeah this is going to be awesome to watch! That M2 should match up with that RF pretty well.

BTW you have a PM about something :santa:

I don't think he is in this country

he wouldnt be the first to say they did a 167 with a system like that (one that clearly DOESNT), but i have to say, he didnt beat me anywhere, ive never competed against the guy. If he thinks his does a 167, mine would probably put him in a coma. :hairtrick:
