AmericanLegend
It's getting dark and I'm tired for today. Any suggestions for the box?? I hope this beats hard! A bandpass is supooosed to be louder than a ported box and the trunk isnt shaking anymore so it should be louder right??
AmericanLegend
Why does everyone go so crazy over this ratio thing? Tune one to spec and the other however you'd like.. ratio is a good guideline to stay with. You can make it however big you want but Not many people know what they are doing with tuning a 4th order. me included. I wouldnt just make a box as big as i can and put the baffle somewhere in there where i THINK it will be good. OP how did u come up with your numbers? I don't know what Im doing with bp boxes either lol! I just know there louder if done right plus one port is easier to control coming into the car. I'm going to make a 6 cubic foot sealed box on the back of this one. Win Isd Beta
FroznBeavrBALLs
i mean i have built a couple but not designed any. you should have built 1 big box and put the baffle in the middle to divide the 2 sections. Since you did it like this make sure you double baffle the middle where the subs will be mounted. whats it tuned to? port looks short... as in, front to back... 2 DC 12" lvl 4s 1 DC 1.2k XS Power S3400 big 3 Alll KNU wire Pioneer HU cheapo Legacy coaxes (just for now) http://www.stevemead...n-sentra-build/

This box is 4.5 cubic feet ported tuned to 70 hz like the program said for maximum deep bass from 54-28hz. Im going to make another one tomorrow thats 6.0 cubic feet sealed for the back of the woofers. The subs are going to screw onto the back of this box, but be surrounded by the front of the next box. Im going to screw the top on I guess and put the subs in from the back. this is where Im at with the box so any advice would be appreciated!! STEvil
sealed side is the small side, ported side is the big side... MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed. AmericanLegend
sealed side is the small side, ported side is the big side... When I modeled it on the computer, it made more bass over more frequencies this way. Will it sound bad or something this way??
AmericanLegend
This is the printed response from Win ISD for the 4.5/6 bandpass box: Relative Freq Gain SPL [Hz] [dB] [dB] 20.00 -19.30 80.71 25.00 -14.11 85.90 30.00 -9.20 90.81 35.00 -4.40 95.61 40.00 -0.15 99.86 45.00 1.91 101.92 50.00 1.62 101.63 55.00 0.76 100.77 60.00 0.12 100.13 65.00 -0.22 99.79 70.00 -0.28 99.73 75.00 -0.13 99.88 80.00 0.20 100.21 And here is the one from the 10.5 cubic foot ported box: Relative Freq Gain SPL [Hz] [dB] [dB] 20.00 -17.28 82.73 25.00 -13.78 86.23 30.00 -10.74 89.27 35.00 -7.97 92.04 40.00 -5.45 94.56 45.00 -3.19 96.82 50.00 -1.23 98.78 55.00 0.36 100.38 60.00 1.55 101.56 65.00 2.32 102.33 70.00 2.73 102.74 75.00 2.89 102.90 80.00 2.87 102.88 As you can see, the bandpass makes more bass between 50 and 30 hz than that huuuge ported box. Sealed is no comparison to either.
REaudioBuff
From what I was told I should do a 4th order for my 15'' DC xl like 1.5-2cubes sealed side because that is the small part of a 4th order. and 3-4cubes depending on how i did my sealed side for the ported side. That is after all displacement as well. I would port it to something around 55-60hz and hope that it likes between 25-40ish hz.. I'm very curious as to how this box is going to perform for you tho considering it is totally different from anything i've seen done in the 4th orders.. The sealed side being 6cubes.. Idk I would be worried about blowing up those subs if your box is gonna be 10.5 cubes with most of it being sealed. audiofanaticz
Nice looking car, waiting to see some more pics!! Why does everyone go so crazy over this ratio thing? Tune one to spec and the other however you'd like.. You do know a 4th order bandpass has only 1 ported chamber right? There is no way to "tune one to spec and the other however you'd like" since its a sealed chamber firing into a ported chamber. Should learn the simple difference between 4th order and 6th order before telling people how or what to do.
