Autruche
Started working on the door panels. Not too bad so far. Mocking it up before securing the baffle to the panel. Yes those are legos. I often use legos to align it how I want before I cut the dowel rods and screw it together. Got everything mounted. Then some fleece. Now it's time for some resin and matting. If I'm luck I'll get them all glassed up before I go to work tonight. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Autruche
A little progress... RESIN! Now we're talking! Cut the door panel parts out. Started with laying some matting. One door is finished out with the matting layout, and you can see how I filled in the gaps on the other one. Just little strips of FG mat stuffed into the crannies. I resined them up, then laid the full layer on it. UH OH! And this is where I'm at now. 1 full layer of matting over everything, 2 in some spots. Since I ran out of resin, it kind of puts the fiberglassing on hold as I cannot afford to get any more resin. I will be working at getting them all pretty with body filler and whatnot in the meantime. I think they'll be strong enough to rock in my car for now, but I'll add a couple more layers of matting to the back when I can afford to. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Autruche
Alright, I couldn't stand seeing them just sitting in my house, so I had to put them in my car. They aren't done yet (still need a couple more layers of matting on them and some body filler to fancy them all up) but I just couldn't wait. I have had these in for a couple weeks, but I didn't want to post anything until I did a little distance test, but I've decided I won't do a distance test until I get my pillars made. Anyway, here's a few pics. Running 3 way active. Also, I got an Optima Red top from a friend for FREE, so I dropped it in the back. I still need to make a box for it though, as it's just screwed to the floor right now. Hopefully I can get to working on my pillars this weekend and maybe I'll do a distance test If I get them done. Autruche
doors look great man. are the panels gonna clip back on or u gonna do something else to hold the weight Thanks. The door panels are held on by the top piece that hooks into the top of the door cart, and by the three factory screws in the handle and door latch cup. The bottom is held on with two screws, which go through the baffle around the speaker cutout (one on each end) and are hidden when the speakers are mounted in place. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Autruche
Did some work in the last couple weeks. I got a good start on my pillar build. In a couple weeks, when I get paid, I will pick up some body filler and make my doors and pillars look all pretty, but until then this is what I've done so far... I started by making molds of my pillars: They are made to just slip on over my pillar pieces, so I don't have to make them permanent. Then I made and fitted my baffles. Then it was time for fleece and resin, then matting. Quick test fit Then a little paint to make them a bit less of an eye sore, as they'll be in my face as I drive. The flash makes the paint look like crap, but they look alright in person. That's it for now. I am going to tune everything today and maybe I'll be able to do a distance test this weekend. Autruche
It's been a while since I've been on here, so what the hell... I'll make a quick update. I noticed my sub seemed to quiet down slightly, so I checked it out when I pulled the box out, and what do you know. That explains it. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Autruche
Decided to build a new box. Unfortunately this one doesn't allow for removal of the sub after installation.
