Best place to hook up a voltage meter?

Does it matter? It's going to read the same anywhere you hook it up.. Right?

People wire to the amp because they want to see the voltage going straight to it. I myself have it hooked up to the rear battery cuz that's where both my amps are hooked up on and I would like to know the voltage on that. I guess it personal preference?

Yep I'm just going to wire it like a HU and if it doesn't work try every wire. I don't feel like spending + or - $30 on a Stinger voltage meter when I have a small system and just want the voltage reading as an interesting perk so $4 from China=Win.
