herbykw
So I just put two DC lvl 2 8"s on a DC 1.2k into my wife's 05 Monte Carlo SS. She has a optima red top under the hood 4 guage front to back, and her lights dim really bad so I did the battery to alt, and battery to ground with 1/0 guage still dimmed. Then I put a mechman 270a alt in and the lights still dim at idle and at 2500 rpm. I checked the voltage at the amp and it does not drop below 14.07 at idle but the lights still dimm pretty bad. Do I need another battery just to help with the voltage pull? Any thoughts? Socky
You talking about headlights or interior lights, if its headlights, just change them out to hid's, they will dim no matter what. Mario928
do you still have 4 gauge run from front to back? If yes upgrade to 0 gauge. For what i hear in this forum optima battery's arent that great. They are good but not like XS battery's. MrSkippyJ
Sounds like you idle output is lower than your amps max draw. Guest
dont those cars have a stock run from the alt going to the fuse/relay box?
herbykw
It's the headlights and interior lights that dimm The amp has 4 guage inputs. I know the Optimus are not that great compared to at audio brand batts, but I didn't think it woul need this much for 1200wrms. The idle output of the alt is 160a I believe. herbykw
dont those cars have a stock run from the alt going to the fuse/relay box? I dunno. I wouldn't use that anyways. There is positive plugs by the fuse box for accessories. I figure straight to the battery would be better Quote 06 300C 5.7 Hemi K&N CAI JVC KW-AVX640 6.1" DVD DC Audio 3.5k 6 DC Audio 8"s 6 cubes 8" aero port at 32hrtz http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/183798-chrysler-300c-8-build/?p=2731834#entry2731834
