am i the only one that sees something wrong here?

he has a hifi2000 and a 220 amp alt and hes having problems. those amp dont even put out 1500 rms. i know several people who have those on stock electrical just fine. there is diffidently something wrong here. maybe bad ground?

How do you know his "220" amp alt actually outputs 220 amps.

Factory tested. 220amps at 4000rpm

ground is probably my problem...there is no ground wiring, just what is mounted on the motor'.

i dont know what it really dose but for sure its not enough to power his electrical, beef up the alt or get more batteries

This is the magic of audio! You can have two amps of the same model that put out different power, coils of a different impedance, different electrical demands from the car itself, even something as simple as installation technique makes a difference. What works in one setup may not work in every setup no matter how hard you try and reproduce it. My car still has a slight dim with 500w and 230A of alt and two topped off bats. Why? Fuck if I know the voltage is rock solid and shit still flickers. Shit. Happens. Haha

well for one you first had it at 3 ohms the first time then wired it to 1 ohm which now makes the amp pull and makes more power

Winner winner chicken dinner!

Taking an amp from 3ohm (guessing 75A of draw on your charging system) down to 1ohm (upwards of 200A or the fuse rating on the amp) is what you are noticing.

so what is my prize :D

OP you asked what was the point on subsonic filter? well the filter is there so you wont play anything under port tuning, am i right guys?

This will depend on a lot of variables relative to the electromechanical qualities of the driver and the performance of the enclosure which will determine where the driver will start to unload in the enclosure.

For example:

I have an IA Warden 12 in a two cubic foot NET enclosure tuned to 36 hertz. I can play down to 30 hertz with authority, but there is a sharp roll off in output in any frequency played below 30 hertz and I unload at 28 hertz (pressure against the cone is lost).

I didn't really test it but the f3 (-3db point) for my enclosure is probably about 31 hertz.

Setting your subsonic filter is really up to you, you could either set it at a little bit below the f3 of the driver or you could set it at whatever frequency you start unloading (probably not too ungodly far away from where the f3 is, but some people can play considerably below their f3 and still not unload).

Sorry for kinda threadjacking, but for the OP: Get that big 3 done and then let us know if it helped!

Well said. I just don't want to be fucking up my car. But having a sound system does that regardless. =)

omg what company is that so i'll make sure i dont get one, 220 amps at 4000 rpm means you have to be driving over 100 mph.

okay we get that you did the big 3 but you said you tested the alternator and it did 220a at 4000 rpm, is that correct? that might be the problem

IMO you have not done a thorough bigIII without a dedicated alt ground. I've said it twice!

^^^^yes your peak output should be closer to 2000-2400 engine rpm. 4000 is where I shift at haha
