porting a sealed box

Recommended Posts

How big is the box? How much space do you have in between the two subs? You could possibly do aeroports or a slot port.

^^ no

u cannot use a sealed box and "turn it into" a ported box..

ported boxes are larger to make up for port displacement and such unless your working with a stupid large box..

example a single 12 sealed box is prolly around 1.2 1.5 cubes at most a general ported 12 box needs to be 2 cubic foot or bigger (or smaller depending on sub application)

You can but it wont sound right and wont be to its full potential. Sell that box and build your own !

subwoofers - two eclipse 88120s

box - 3.4 cubes tuned to 32 hz

amps - aq1200 and pheonix gold zx450

New build :

2 obsidian audio 15s

same amp

6.1 cubic foot box tuned to 32 hz in a civic hatch

Like i said, if its a really big sealed box then yes it can be done and sound good but if not then you have to build another box.

It is possible but I wouldn't recommend it, subs will more than likely sound worse than they are sealed. Just save up to buy or build a proper ported enclosure.
