No fold down seat, port rear deck?

Hello, so i have picked up a bunch of wood,peel and seal to make a new box for my car. And as i was stripping down the interior i figured why not cut a hole in the rear deck to vent the trunk to the cab.

The 2002 buick doesnt have a fold down seat so ive been rockin it with no seat for the longest.

Im looking for a cleaner install and would like to put my rear seat in so should i do it or no?

Also any tips on port calculating would be nice because i plan on building the box tommarow!!

Originally i was going to do a simple rectangle box but i thought about it and came to the decision to build the box around the trunk to have the most cubes possible.

I have 2 15" aw152t audiobahns

I wish i could find a programn that was compatible with a macintosh computer but i havnt yet so its looking like im going to have to take a shot in the dark with port sizing.

Any help will be appreciated il take pics tommarow and show the progress on the build. thanks

i have a vague idea of what your asking. but if i'm understanding what your asking have you thought about a forth order and having that vent actually be your port? just an idea.

If thats the way to do it then il do a 4th order im just not sure how to build it to vent through the cab and would it be loud?

I was just going to build a ported box thats fits the t shape of the trunk then cut a vent in the rear deck. i never thought about using the vent on the deck as a port for the box but if it will be louder then im game!!

for ultamate spl on a single aw152t sub it says 3.7 cu. ft. (2) 4x9.5 round ports So i figure 8 cube ft box but i want a slot port so im not sure how to convert round port dimensions to slot port

What i thought it would be is a 8in height x 8in width with a 32in length port.

does this sound somewhat right?

Just an FYI. My system is a Nightshade 18 ported through the rear deck of a 2002 olds aurora... Getting about 3000w of power from 2 strapped saz 1500d's

I originally had 2 4" aeroports shooting up in between my 6x9's, it got pretty damn loud... I only recently realized I had waaaaay to little port volume overall. I'm in the process of changing it to a larger rectangle port 10"x9". 26 inches long with 10" external port. It's going to be tuned to 36hz with about 17in^2 port area per foot.

And I am super excited about it.

without fold down seats it was the best i could do... and i really like how it turned out, even though i was waaaay low on port area.

At about 1 minute in this video it shows the ports

This video just kinda shows a little bit of how loud it got despite my old box falling about... only volume 20/40.

Safe level to turn the HU up is 38/40 (tested with the DD1)

So yeah.. like i said... my port was waaaay too small, i was still thrilled with how it turned out. and i cant wait to get the new box in.

or 16in x 1in with 32in length slot port seems like a small port opening but from what the audiobahn sub specs are saying this should be right

wow j zeff got any pictures? i need to get this box done befor work in 12 hours!! i need help!! and inspiration!! is it loud ive always heard to face the subs and port toward the rear of the car for the best sound.

EDIT: If i could have done it, i would have faced the subs toward the rear and then ported up through the deck. I just didnt have enough vertical space for the 18 to face backwards. So if you could do subs to the rear and port up you would be golden in my opinion

I edited my previous post multiple times, make sure you look it over again in case you missed anything..

This video gives a good walk through of when i first put it in... it was only running off of one DAT 1000.1 at 4ohms at this point, but it got loud as hell.

I gotta work a 12 hour shift in about 10 hours though, so i need some sleep.

Hopefully i was a little bit of help. Other people on here are 500x more knowledgable than me, as soon as they wake up they should have you covered

ALSOOO.. the most important advice i can give you: if your not 100% confident in what your going to build, dont rush it...

Plan out everything for another week, get your box calculations right, and tackle it next weekend...

I didnt completely know what i was doing the first time, and now i have to rebuild, haha.
