t-rob
well i thought i understood why these mono amps had 2 "A and B" channels for wiring speakers up but now i am confused and was wondering if someone could send me a link, or explain to me how this works why do they say mono amp but have 2 + and 2 - how do you wire them to subs.. example t10001bd wired to 1 fi bl or t10001bd wired to 2 fi ssd's sorry if this question seems stupid i just cant find anything to teach me or help me understand Edited November 29, 2007 by t-rob Quote www.myspace.com/trob10 Kenwood eXcelon KDC-x792 Rockford Fosgate Punch 5x7" DC Audio level 3 12" DC Audio 1000.1 Stinger wiring
dwright27
basically the amplifier is internally bridged right guys? so no matter if you use the positive and negative on one channel or the other it will still act bridged. tacomabanga1986
see thats what i thought...that if you use one side or the other its still gunna give you the rms power.. but then i wa slooking at pics of chodes setup and he has both sides being used... so how much comes out of each? it should be the same eather way, my old mtx 500d was like that, its internally bridged into 2channels just to make it easyer on wireing cause most of the mtx show trucks only use one side of the pos n neg's, it should be the same on each side but if u hooked like 2ohm to a and 2ohm to b it will set the amp to 1ohm, i think chode used it like that for runnin 2 subs, each at 2ohm to the amp makes it alot cleaner looking and easyer to hook up, but whats wierd about my amp is, its internally bridged into 2 channels but u can bridge those 2 channels to i dont get it, its like +speaker1- +speaker2- i dont get it why companys do this b |______bridge_______| maby to make it look kewler i dunno or just a more efficent way of hookin em up, hope the answers ur question mayne and good luck with it just make sure that what ohm load u hook to each will step eachother down in the middle like a 4ohm to a and 4ohm to b=2ohm to amp Edited November 29, 2007 by tacomabanga1986 Quote here's a link to my system 99 toyota tacoma , 2 mtx 8000 1504's in a sealed downfire , 1000w memphis amp here's a link to my other system my 90 geo prizm test car heres a thread i got of new songs u can dl that are legal = Some Good Bangage/you Can Dl These Free And Legit
t-rob
thanks man im not actually doing this im just reading a lot and trying to learn more but im still slighty confused so its internaly bridged so if you use the "A" channel or "b" channel either or not both you will still be getting the rms out of the amp? and if you use both how much does each side put out? t-rob
i think this is right the amp is a rf t10001bd if you cant read the writing and the subs are 2 12" fi ssd Dual 1 ohm i dont know for sure though is do you wire the subs in series like in the diagram or in parallel "+to+ -to-" on each sub to get the 2ohm load? thanks again for the help! I really appreciate it! Derrick824
Wire the coils on each sub in series for a 2ohm load. Then hook up each sub to a to each connection on the amp and they will be paralleled internally for a final 1ohm load. RF puts two connections on their mono amps just to make connecting multiple subs easier. It still only has one channel.
t-rob
so in the picture take the right subs inputs to the amp and put them into the left side? E a r t h
No, hook it up like you have it in the picture. The amp will be @ 1ohm and each ssd will recieve 700-800 watts which is perfect. You can't get a 2ohm load with two dual 1ohm subs on the amp, they would have to be dual 2ohm subs and that would be pointless in your situation
