i say you start off with something small and work your way up. my first setup was in my first car. it was a 1999 ford f-150. i had a deck i bought at walmart, a old alpine amp i got from my dads friend for free and a 12" mtx jackhammer wich i got from circuit city for 100 bucks. (it was a display model). that was my first set up when i was 15 1/2. then in my benz i had a indash with a 3" screen, same alpine amp, and a kicker comp. now in my current car i have a 7" flip out indash, 300 watt kicker amp, and a 1000 watt kenwood subwoofer mounted in the decklid. i have more plans for this car that will happen over time. gotta start small. i know alot of these builds here a sick and make you want to do a badass crazy build yourself cause i feel the same way. but you gotta remember. im sure that these guys with the badass builds with like 6 18s or 12 15s and stuff like that it is not their first build. my point is start small and dont overwhelm yourself with a build you cant handle cause if you start a build and you cant handle it and you tear up your car for that build or waste alot of money and then change your mind you will be super pissed off. so for your car if you want good bass but dont wanna dish out alot of money and dont wanna overwhelm yourself with a crazy build then id say get a good guage wire, a nice 12" or 15" subwoofer (whatever will fit in your trunk) and put it or them in a nice box. i havnt gotten one yet but id recomend a xs battery to handle the wattage that will be going to that subwoofer.

just read bro.. save yourself some money, research research research and when you're tired of research do some more research. I've been reading and researching for about 2 years now without any audio "UPGRADE" practice your wood working skills (preferably without sawing your thumb off) you can go a long way with some entry level stuff. but like i said I've been reading for awhile and I STILL don't possess the knowledge necessary to pull off a huge system. i hope you take the proper initiative and listen to the rest of these guys, odds are they know more than me as well.

escorts are not that bad, not the best looking but not bad. secondly go to some local car shoes and bass comps and check out what everyone is using and what sound good to you. secondly if money isnt an issue and you realy want some bass your gonna want atleast 1500watts + + +. last but not least, if you realy did research like you said you did then you wouldnt need to know what size wire or what brands are good.

do your research dont just say you did

show some pix of car (the area that the sub enclosure will be) and list the max dimensions of what you can fit. You said you want a 15- 18 possibly but you may be louder on a 12 if the space is not ideal for a 15 or 18. People on here can help you figure out what will work best in the area you have. You say money is not an issue, I hope you realize this hobby aint cheap. You mite end you with more in the system than the cars worth. I have before.

Some brands with a reputation for great output are in no particular order: Digital designs, audioque, DC sound labs, sundown, Fi, Ascendent Audio

on wire I personally perfer Knukonceptz, and batteries xs power.

Just to point you in a decent direction Take a look at some of these and decide for yourself. The more you listen to experienced people the happier you will be in the long run. Buying something you are unhappy with will just mean you will be buying again later.

Oh and plan for your next build now because you will want to go bigger later on...trust me. ie go ahead and do the best electrical ups you can afford it always helps.

Do not bother posting a question of which sub or amp to get or any vs. threads. I already found out personally it is not allowed in this forum.

d-train-13k i still think my idea is the best to start at.

boss clips hard but it doesnt put out enough watts to even make the coil smell.

i seriously tried as hard as i could to mess up a jackhammer 12" with a boss amp rated at "800 watts at 2 ohm"

played it for about 2-3 months and it didnt hurt the sub :(

i think the boss amps are unreliable.

ive seen my cousins and it used to be silver. and now is completely tarnished and burnt to shit.

still plays but its a fire hazard i believe.

oh unreliable no doubt lol. mine is fused at 25 amps and i tested to see if the fuse would blow in it and it indeed blew, its a chaos amp, so its a little old.

but at least it pops fuses if you mess up

Start off on a little cheaper side... Get some nice (not $400 each) 15's if you like and a good amp to power then.. throw a battery or two in the back.. the thing is in a couple months/year or so your gonna wanna change ur set up anyways.. this is almost promised with no matter what you get.. (unless you have like a 150-160 set up) even then you still may change ur mind on ur equipment. i haven't been here long but one thing i have learn car audio is all about trial and error.. find something you don't like.. try again, and a again, and again, and again, and.....
