Mile High Guy
what's up everyone. i bought 2 12" DC lvl 3 subs and i'm looking to design an enclosure for them. i would like them to be loud and hit nice lows also. i listen to hip-hop and electronic music mainly. i know i want to go ported (around 33hz or so) but don't know if the box needs 1 port in the middle of the subs or if it needs to be dual slot ported. i've read many threads on these forums but haven't found much info about this subject. i have a 2000 honda accord and the subs will be running off a T1500-1bdcp amp. my max dimensions are: H 16.5" x W 32" x D 17" so i believe i have the room the enclosure needs. i'll be having the enclosure made by a shop or someone else. any input or advice is greatly appreciated. thank you. Joe X
A single chamber is all I could fit, suggested Vb = 1.5cuft and driver displacement is = 0.16 cuft from DC: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 33 Hz Vb = 3 ft^3 Subwoofer Mounting = Flush Mounted External Height = 16,5 in External Width = 32,89 in External Depth = 17 in Port Width = 2 9/16 in Cut List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: Front = 29 9/16 x 15 Front Internal = 28 13/16 x 15 Back = 32 7/8 x 15 Left & Right Sides: Side 1 = 15 1/2 x 15 Side 2 = 14 3/4 x 15 Top & Bottom = 32 7/8 x 17 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 12 15/16 x 15 Extension = 8 5/16 x 15 Assembly guide (generic dimensions): Some space efficient bracing should be used front to back at least. Mile High Guy
ok cool. i was hoping to keep the port in the middle for symmetry but since that's not an option this design will work just fine. ty for your input. of course, my main goal is to get the most out of these subs and i'll do whatever is needed for that. thx again. loudNlow87
You can fit them in there with a center port and still keep 3 cubes net at that tuning.. Mile High Guy
You can fit them in there with a center port and still keep 3 cubes net at that tuning.. ok and would the port dimensions still be the same? is there a site that you know of where you are able to sketch everything out along with entering the measurements? i would like to have a basic layout and measurements with it when i find a shop to build this enclosure for me so that i know the box will be made to the correct specs and tuning freq. ty Headunit - Alpine 9857 Mids & Highs - T165,T1692 Mids & Highs Amp - T400-4 Subs - 2 12" DC Audio Level 3 M2s Sub Amp - T1500-1bdcp Alternator - MechMan 220a Wiring - 1/0ga XS Power Batteries - 2 Optima Yellow Tops Read the fucking manual. n8ball2013
sorry its really not that much power to be honest. I would be careful with that much power on level 3s though. unless they are the new ones.
