I was wondeing what the loudest box for 4 12's or the 15's would be, bandpass or ported. And how do you figure the sizes for the ported box and the sealed box in a bandpass box? also any ideas for an amp or 2 to run the lvl 2's whatever size i choose? Size of the drive will depend on the applicatin, how much space do you have to work with ? Ported has potential to be louder at and around a given frequency. Bandpass has potential (if properly designed) to be loud consistently over a broader range of frequecies. What type of sytem are you going for? musical, burp, groundpound? 87regal Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Ported is more efficient but bandpass allows you to trade bandwidth for output(potentially more than ported ) so it really comes down to your particular application and goals. Generally speaking most bandpass designs play over a narrower range of frequencies. I think Tarball has it mixed up.

87regal Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 It's going to come down to what frequencies you need to play, the specific acoustic properties of your vehicle, and how much power you have available. Rather than trust some on the fly suggestions I would hit up a reputable designer and let them tell you what's best.
