VaNQuisH
UPDATE: Headunit Doesn't Clip (max volume 35/35) Now when setting my mids and highs I got distortion at about 10% of the amp turned up. When setting subwoofer amplifier. I get distortion at 35/35 with gains on the line driver ALL THE WAY DOWN and amplifier ALL THE WAY DOWN What do I do... just leave the gains off? I've measured the headunit alone and 35/35 no distortion is what i got Now I need to measure through the amplifier correct and average the two volumes before I dd-1 the mids amp and subwoofer amp. audiofanaticz
Do you have your subwoofer volume turned up? Have you also tried a different set of rca outputs like the front or rears, to make sure its not an issue with the subwoofer channel? Lbox88
I had a similar problem on mine where I didn't get signal til I hit 54/62. Try using the provided cable and hook onto the speaker level output. That will tell you A. if/that your dd-1 works and B. where your HU's internal amplifier clips at. VaNQuisH
I'm using the Subwoofer preouts so i turned the subwoofer setting on the HU to 15/15 40hz came on at 24/35 1khz came on at 27/35 No distortion light therefor my max setting is automatically 35 correct? P.S. DO I NEED TO KEEP THE SUBWOOFER SETTING ON 15/15 for all testing!? P.S. DO I NEED TO KEEP THE SUBWOOFER SETTING ON 15/15 for all testing!? Yea, if no distortion was detected with both 40hz and 1000hz on all preouts then you are correct, clip free at max volume. And yes, keep the subwoofer volume on 15/15 for all testing. This means your amp will be tuned for distortion free at subwoofer volume. When you turn the subwoofer volume down you reduce the pre out voltage which results in the subs getting quieter (sort of like manually turning the gain down on your amplifier). Hence why your dd-1 was not picking up a signal when the sub volume was all the way down, since the rca voltage was reduced to almost nothing at all. You will then be able to choose your subwoofer volume like a remote gain knob using the subwoofer volume level on the headunit.
audiofanaticz
UPDATE: Headunit Doesn't Clip (max volume 35/35) When setting subwoofer amplifier. I get distortion at 35/35 with gains on the line driver ALL THE WAY DOWN and amplifier ALL THE WAY DOWN What do I do... just leave the gains off? The cda 9887 should have 4volt pre outs. There is no need for a line driver at all, even if your headunit had 2volt preouts. Simply right now the line driver is causing more harm than needed. Two ways to fix this would be: 1: ditch the line driver that is not needed. 2: turn your headunit volume down to a level that does not cause distortion on the amp due to the line driver. Your problem just proves linedrivers are not needed ever (unless you have a setup and your running like 6+amps from 1 set of preouts). I'm pulling the line driver out now to see how that goes. thanks for the input Quote Currently: * Hybrid Audio Legathia 3-Way Active Front Stage * (2) Morel Ultimo 12's * (2) Arc Audio 1100.1 XDi v2 (Strapped @1ohm) * (1) Arc Audio 1200.6 * RF 360.3 DSP
