Hunters21w Posted March 7, 2012 Author Report Posted March 7, 2012 So I installed a pack of Alpha Damp in my ride yesterday and boy was it nice. So simple, just peal off the backing and throw it on the roof! No cutting or anything. Started off removing my A,B and C pillars along with some clips and such holding my headliner on. Heres what I had underneath the headliner. Not too bad actually, the cross braces already had some stock foam so I didn't need to Great Stuff them. The worse panel flex I had was between the A, and B pillar. I believe they make all of the Escapes the same so if they have a sunroof this is where it would go. Mine does not, leaving me with a large unbraced panel! Heres a Pre-Deaden video I took to show the massive flex I had. To begin I started off with some Dawn dish soap to clean all of the surfaces I plan on deadening. Very simple to do. On the very back panel it looked like the guy on the Ford line decided to say F it and threw some sort of panel glue on! Hard as a rock so I grinded it down with a wire wheel until it was smooth. Onto the progress pictures. I would've taken more but it honestly took like 35 minutes to deaden from front to back lol. Like I said before, awesome stuff! I will be the first to say, I was scared to take apart my headliner and begin deadening! Now that I've done it, I cannot believe I didn't do it the day I got home with this car. It was alot of fun and anybody can do it in a couple hours. With that being said, here is the Post-Deadening video I took. Keep in mind I am in my garage and everything sort of echos. Also, towards the end you can hear the roof racks rattling. Those will be off this weekend! I really want to try out Second Skins Luxery Liner Pro on the floor to really quiet down the road noise and such. Also dampening the doors is next, damp pro would be ideal. Hate cutting up good working subs but its for the better. They should be here Monday'ish. Man those spiders were glued on! The standards don't have that problem, they're dual stitched leads as opposed to the single non stitched leads I have now.
