Someone help please? I just need to know the port volume so I can figure out gross enclosure size. Also do you think this enclosure will work well with the 2, 12 inches subwoofers. Thanks
Joe X Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 The IA 12"s are specified for 1.75-2.5 cuft each, Here is a design suggestion where I picked about 2.25 cuft per driver at about 33Hz tuning and on your dimensions: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 32,62 Hz Vb = 4,504 ft^3 Subwoofer Mounting = Flush Mounted External Height = 14 in External Width = 36 in External Depth = 27 in Port Width = 6 in Cut List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: 2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 36 x 14 Left & Right Sides = 24 3/4 x 12 1/2 Top & Bottom = 36 x 24 3/4 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 18 3/4 x 12 1/2 Extension = 5 x 12 1/2 Let me know what you think.

Joe X Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 The equipment will work, the enclosure numbers don't match. If you want to come up with your own numbers get the Torres calculator. As far as I am concerned the suggestion I gave you would work best, even if you add the 45s the net volume won't change enough to have an effect.

According to Nick at incriminator audio the tech support/owner I believe said to go with a 2 1/2 cubic ft per subwoofer more then the box you designed. This box is 2 1/2 per woofer, with 75 squared inches of port. He said to go 70 for 6 cubic ft box and this is 6.3 so i bumped it up to 75. Let me know what you're thinking. He also said to tune it to 35 but I think I'll like 31-33 better.

He might've said that it'll be around 6 cubic feet total gross volume (including port/woofer displacement) which would give around 4.5 cu ft for both woofers Build in progress
Joe X Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 Ok here is what you seem to want Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 32,9 Hz Vb = 5,038 ft^3 Subwoofer Mounting = Flush Mounted External Height = 14 in External Width = 36 in External Depth = 30 in Port Width = 7 in Cut List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: 2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 36 x 14 Left & Right Sides = 27 3/4 x 12 1/2 Top & Bottom = 36 x 27 3/4 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 20 3/4 x 12 1/2 Extension = 2 x 12 1/2 Let me know what you think. The reason I went below the limit of Vb is because that's what you usually do when you are intending to run subs above their rated power to avoid overexcursion damage.
