RD Audio D9 @ .5 OHM

I'd bet the amp goes first

On a D9? That amp will run for DAYS at .5 ohm.

And to the OP, yes they will handle that power.

have you ran a d9 at .5 for daily ripping on it full tilt?

Me personally, no, I do just so happen to have an RD D9 now for another project, but I know several people who have them, and I have setup oscoped this amp on a few different competitors vehicles so I know what it can and can't do. Also doesn't hurt I am good friends with the current owners.

i was just asking, i have seen them in the lanes be EXTREMELY successful at .5, sometimes lower, but all were burps. not daily. OP it's all about application.

I have a teammate that ran his daily at .5 ohm for months in a trunk car on two warden 12s, doing 150s. He blew his actually because it was in trunk on a 115 degree day and dropped voltage down to about 10 volts, smoked it. But no doubt would have been fine if voltage was up and didn't have the heat in a trunk.

My D9 is in well ventilated area, and never sees under 14v. and 50% of the time, I'm doing burps between 40-55hz.... I just wasn't sure if those subs could take that much power. I know they're very high quality, but I've never personally ran them until now and was just trying to get some opinions.

My amp is about 75% of the way up, so they're getting about 2700 RMS each, so I should be good then. lol.. Thanks for the help.

I would up my signal input voltage if you are going to be running the amp at .5 ohm. so you don't have to run your amp at 75% gain. Just me though, I like being able to keep my gain as low as possible.

I'd do the same but not through a line driver, if your headunit has 2v preouts try getting a headunit with 4 or 5v preouts, I'm not sure about this amp but most amps don't like being line driven.

Are you talking about running higher voltage to it, so it can put out the same power without having the gain as high?
