Stee-Z Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Here are my current dimensions Outer dim. 16" high 28" wide 30" deep Port 2.5" high 26.5" wide 26" long Net vol. 4.13 ft.^3 tuning freq. 36.33hz Port area per ft. 16.03 in sq I have most of the box complete except the port, this is where I want it to be correct. I've had some people tell me that with this current dimensions of the port il have port noise and I should have a little more port area..bla bla bla. So can someone please fix this to bring this box to its full potential. As you may know im looking for a nice punch in my setup now, since my last box was at 30hz, so I wanted to try around 36-37hz ish area. pa-pa-platypus Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 that port area should be ok..touch more couldnt hurt but i wouldnt split hairs over it..what theyre referring to is the ratio of ur length to height.. most say a 9:1 ratio... basically your ports to long and skinny and needs to be shorter and fatter lol This isn't teeball. YOU DO NOT GET A TROPHY JUST BECAUSE YOU SHOW UP. Put the work in and then maybe get the respect when it has been earned 151.6 with single 12 at 41 hz 153.2 with 2 12's at 43 hz power: dd m4

Joe X Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Ok so the width of the box is 28 and the width of the port is 26.5 which means it goes all across the with of the box so one thing that can be done is make it taller and shorter so that is not as thin, Here is a suggetion for the new port: INTERNAL DIMENSIONS!!! H = 3.5 in. W = 22 in. L = 24 in. That would leave you at Port Area/Vb = 16.486, port L/H ratio = 6.286, Fb = 36.6Hz I would also add an extra layer of MDF to the baffle for a flush mount, it would be 16.75 tall then, if you can do it go ahead.
