carshateme
Okay, so I got this question on my mind. Going to be getting 2 D2 subs and I'm wondering if they would sound better at 2 ohms, paralleled to each other into a mono class d amp or should I get 2 separate ampliifers, same brand, and one sub to one amp and the other sub to the other amp, if that's even logical, they'd be at 1 ohms Quote New build coming soon. DRCinc
why not just go 1 ohm? most of the cheaper amp's dont run at 1 ohm so just remember that. otherwise i say the same thing
412 CVX
you can't wire two d2 subs in parallel to get 2 ohms. parallel > series so for that reason, 2 separate amps gets my vote. that being said, you probably won't hear the difference between the two. Thomas B
Thats a trick question........I am missing way to much info. Are you asking about spl because in your last post you were saying you wanted to do sound comps. If so get 2 d2 and wire down to .5 ohms and get the most from a single amp. When using 2 amps instead of 1 what amps are you thinking of using? can you strap them if so do so and run each amp at .25 ohms and really push your system. carshateme
why not just go 1 ohm? errr... you can't wire two d2 subs in parallel to get 2 ohms. parallel > series so for that reason, 2 separate amps gets my vote. that being said, you probably won't hear the difference between the two. http://www.the12volt...ons.asp#results was about to say, "wtf, 12volt lied to me /Rage" Amps to use, I'm thinking about JL audio or DC, if I go dc, I'll just get the 1.2k. I don't know how hard I'll go on them RMS wise, don't know what 2 12" dc level 3 with lvl 4 softcone rms level is. Reason I bought this up because I can't find .5 ohm amplifiers, (do they even make them) or do you have to strap them down to get .5 ohms Edited February 8, 2012 by carshateme Quote New build coming soon. carshateme
Okay, so I think I'll get 2 1.2k DC amps or get two 1k rms amplifiers and clamp them to get me .5 ohms. 412 CVX
you can put to d2's in series parrallel to make it 2 ohm well.. yeah. but the OP specifically stated parallel in his post. and parallel has been proven to be louder than series. IBleedMusick
With the right electrical the DC amp will run at .5 ohm just fine you just have to keep that electrical stable. I don't think I have ever seen a .5 ohm stable amp but I have seen people run amps at .5 ohm you don't have to get two and strap for that just buy a 3.5k and run it at 2 ohms. If you will underpowering the sub´s you have to build a bigger box. Quote "in the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty" Bob Marley
Guest
impossible to tell you which option would "sound better". theoretically, either option would yield identical results
