Notoriousj76 Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 I cant decide what to tune my box to. All I know is that I want it to have the most impressive subsonic bass I can achieve. I'm runnin a sundown SAZ 3000 and have 6 american bass DX 12s. Right now they are in roughly .9 cubes sealed each. I know the new box will have them in 2 cubes each. Main question - Should I tune to 30 hz or tune to 35 hz? Lets assume I'm playing some decaf with some tones in the upper 20s....... tune at 30 it should sound good and clean down low but not as loud. Right? tuned at 35 it should unload the subs and be louder under tuning but sloppy. Right? Sorry if I look like a noob asking something like this but I don't have the materials to experiment first hand building all this and being dissapointed.
Joe X Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 Doing some quick modelling a 35 Hz tuning will get you about 2dB louder at 45Hz than a 35Hz tune, a 30 Hz tuning will extend F3 to 27Hz, 30Hz for the 35Hz tuning. if you plan to listen low I would def recommend a 30Hz tuning for these subs.
