Boat systems...any tips?

so a guy i know wanted some help installing a stereo on this tiki party boat thing he has. and i wanted to get some more info on what to do.

to make the box waterproof, resin or fiberglass on the inside and out would be the best way?

also, where would be a good place to put said sub and amp? is wiring the amp up exactly the same as it is in a car? to battery, headunit, etc.

would i have to worry about the battery draining? i dont know if boats have generators on them to charge it.

You can buy special decks that are marine decks. Its exactly the same as a car stereo. The only difference that i noticed is that a lot of people us a switch to turn their head unit on so they can run it when they are just lounging around. For the draining the battery, what we did was we ran a separate battery with an isolator on it. that way if you run that battery dead it will recharge when you start the boat up. When you mount the amp make sure it is up off the floor. we ran our under a seat on a verticle piece of wood mounted to the hull (make sure not to drill threw the hull).

I did this too my parents pontoon the sub is a 10 inch type r with a capacitor and diamond amp running 700 watts in a sealed enclosure it will start to cut out after about an hour playing loud. Hasn't left us stranded yet. The bass isn't loud at all tho you can feel it more than hear it so I plan on re doing the box this spring for a little more out put. So im in for tips as well. We are running six clarion marine speakers and clarion head unit with the type r.
