Nine8SST
What do you guys look for in a tweeter? I have heard some pretty harsh tweeters, Infinity kills my ears, and even the T1652-s tweets are a bit brighter than what I prefer. Is the material composition a good way to judge a tweet...ie, aluminum, titanium, silk? What are some of the "smoother" tweets you have personally heard? 1998 SS/T Ram Build Log - Kenwood KVT-514 and KNA-G510 Navigation - 2 DC Level 3 12" - Components??? - Sundown ??? - Sundown??? - Knu Konceptz - Second Skin Dampy Pro - XS D6500
MrSkippyJ
In my personal experience, the material has not been the defining factor. I don't know what is but I have heard both aluminum and silk dome sound harsh and bright and also heard both types be smooth and sweet. MrSkippyJ
well, the smoothest i have ever been able to listen to were some focals. The Hertz tweets are also really nice, not quite as smooth to me. My JL tweets were pretty smooth too. The RF T1 tweets are probably least smooth I have ever owned, but they aren't bad. mlstrass
Vifa XT25's, small format. Need to be very close to on-axis since they're a ring radiator. VERY nice sounding tweeter...

SmallTruk
X2 on the Vifa's, I have 3 pairs in my ride and love them for what they cost. As far as harsh goes, for me personally it would be Kappas, MB Quarts, and Focals. Anything with a metal dome is generally painful for me.
