Ray
1996 they used it at finals, but blew it up, and couldnt recone it there.. then it was outlawed in 1997 and mtx just scrapped the whole project.. iirc it put up an awesome score even only beiung at 1/4 gain or something like that.. so from that to the jackhammer........... what a joke Quote 2008 California state record holder 157.2 Bassrace2009 California state record holder 157.0 BassraceRollin 50's 158.7db2009 King of Cali Bassrace2009 USACi score 160.5 @ 42hz

Audio Doc
MTX didn't design that subwoofer. The badging was done in good fun. Richard Clark and a host of outside engineers contributed to the design and construction. In 1997 (agains alma's best wishes) it was allowed to compete. But thanks to Alma's protest against them using a computer system to run the power supplies, the team had to 'wing it' and operate it manually. Operating it manually was a disaster and on the first stoke a support snapped. In this one single stroke it did 162db's. It has not been back because the rules still have not changed (so other competitors can still dispute the drive system), Money, and one other tidbit I can't remember ATM. Neat project though - Matt Quote FTW?
Forevrbumpn
When I had that one thread about how it would be nice to have a new comp association, This is the kind of thing I would love to see, not to compete person to person, but just to show off. Its not hard to build a home made subwoofer useing home made parts, but nobody wants to allow them at shows. I used a 8" PG xmax sub, to make a 24"x24" 1/8" plexi panel subwoofer back in 04' and was great till the plexi cracked in half Quote I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
