Is it different between manufacturers? what do you need me to elaborate. if you RAISE eq levels you are adding signal, if you set dd-1 to max then add signal you will clip/distort you dont put sub level on max for every headunit, each one is different. alpines need to be set to max to get full voltage. this is when a dmm helps so you can see what voltage you are getting at each sub level. you dont want to go above 0 with pioneers usually, only quiet it from that point. most go -24 to +6. sub levels/bass knobs are not meant to make a song with quiet bass louder, its better to just know thats how music is, some songs are louder than others and by boosting signal you can easily introduce clipping distortion... especially since not all bass knobs do the same thing. using loudness will distort/clip the signal, it is not needed. in every manual it is stated to ONLY use it at low volumes Edited February 17, 2012 by Decaf Quote
