EQ settings

here's a quick overview of my setup before i get to my question. my h/u has RCA outputs for front speakers, rear speakers, and subwoofer out. one selenium 6w4p per front door running off of the h/u. one selenium st200 each front door, both running off of a small amp (high pass filter on). and sub amp of course is on low pass.

now, when i've adjusted the bass setting on my h/u, ive noticed my subs hit harder or less depending on the +/- that i set it at. my concern is that now with my super tweets hooked up, that if i turn the bass setting on my h/u up, that it will up the bass signal going to my super tweets.

the RCA for the super tweets is plugged to the "rear speakers", and the amp for the tweets is set at roughly 100hz give or take. bass blockers are planned out for the super tweets, but i wanna turn back up the bass setting just a tad to have my subs hit harder, but im concerned that it will also make the bass signal stronger going to my super tweets, regardless of what i have the hz set to.

is this a legit concern? or am i being a puss about all of it?

I think you're over thinking it lol. Mine are set up the exact same way you described and I've had absolutely no problems at all. No bass going into my tweets, so I'm assuming that the hpf on my amp is doing it's job.

you're making your supertweeters play from 100hz and up...

yea that's a problem. lol. turn it down and get your stuff crossed over properly.

generally you want to leave your bass setting at flat on your eq.

*edit - hatersgonnahate. his amp is crossed at 100 hz... those seleniums don't have built in passive crossovers. guessing that's what's saving your tweeters.

there's not much to turn down. its starts at 50hz :/

yeah since low pass is obviously for the lows, and high pass for the highs. i really feel like im over thinking it lol. i just dont wanna burn up my first set of pro audio stuff.

so, basically recommending crossovers even though the tweets are the ONLY thing running off of the amp?

i'm not saying you need to go out and buy 2 way crossover. i'm just saying don't crank it until you get the tweets to play the proper frequency range. so until you get your bass blockers.

gotcha. the hz setting goes from 50-250, so i figured 100 was a nut shot of a setting. as soon as i get my tax money, hopefully in the next few weeks, im getting new amps (since this one has no brand name, and no power ratings anywhere on or inside the amp) bass blockers, and the DD1/CC1 combo pack. i guess the CC1 will better help me with what settings to set my mids and highs 4-ch amp to

that amp will work. just go out and buy some passive crossovers/bass blockers. just find out where you want it crossed and at what slope. so like 3khz 24db/octave (not actually sure what those tweets like but that's just a generalized example) crescendo sells em for their tweets. parts express has em. i think stinger has em too. plenty of places. all fairly cheap.
