zack_e89
Needing some help on a box design.. First, my trunk is pretty small and oddly shaped. The room I'm looking at is 37 wide, 32 deep(can go deeper...), and 15 high. You might be thinking, woah, 15 isn't very tall at all....and you're right. But my trunk is pretty shallow, and I'm thinking if I keep the box short I can have the subs on top. Am I on the right track with this? I believe I'm looking for 8 cubes after sub displacement? And how big/what kind of port should I consider? (34hz?) I'm also thinking about doing some sort of wall, with my trunk being small/oddshaped(edit: my trunk is 16 ft³ total)....I appreciate any advice I have the box calculator downloaded, but would really like some help on the dimensions with the port. zack_e89
I would really appreciate any help on a box design....I really want to build this box. I've tried using the box calculator and haven't been able to figure out something I can use. I'm mainly stuck on the port size/area. Joe X
So here is a design suggestion, barely will meet the mfr spec of 3.5 cubic feet per sub, subs firing upwards, port front or back on either side (to save airspace): Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 34.075 Hz Vb = 7.086 ft^3 Subwoofer Mounting = Flush Mounted External Height = 15.75 in External Width = 37 in External Depth = 32 in Port Width = 6 1/2 in Cut List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: 2 x Top & Bottom (3 parts) = 37 x 32 Left & Right Sides = 30 1/2 x 13 1/2 Front & Back = 37 x 13 1/2 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 17 x 13 1/2 2 rod two inch diameter dowels top to bottom need to be put near the center and between the subs, their displacement has been considered. Let me know any questions.
zack_e89
Thanks for the help Joe X. I see you replying to alot of box threads. However, I think I've messed up the max dimensions....As in I don't think I'd be able to actually get it in the trunk once I built it....Would I be better off just taking out my back seats and having the box there? ....Bass > back seats Quote 97 Suburban 8 custom PSI Platform 3 18's

Joe X
Guess you were lucky enough to realize that before building. Got a guy that realized that on the way in.. pretty big box also. Kind of hard building inside the trunk. Think about it.

I'm going to do some more measurements/tests and get back to you.....I may still end up taking out the back seats....
