voltage drop maybe?

Recommended Posts

I JUST installed a dc 3.5k, 2 dc lvl 4 m2

My electrical is a xs 5100 up front, xs 3000xp in back with a stock 140 alt with the big 3. My problem is when I get nice and loud, my door speakers and stop playing while the subs keep goin. I have a stock volt meter and it doesn't look tooo bad, my headlights don't dim. Any input is appreciated

yeah. i would recommend a new alt.

edit: i would also recommend a legit voltmeter so you know EXACTLY where your voltage is. you may be dipping below 12v and not even know it

its better to know for sure. those stock volt meters werent designed to keep an eye on voltage for audio purposes. i have two voltmeters in my car, one for the front batt, one for the back batt. and with a stock 70amp alt, i never dip below 13ish. better to know for sure with a digital one, or with a dial one that has more voltage marking points

IMO: you have a pretty nice setup, and i would hate for you to burn stuff up with poor voltage. i would start with a voltmeter. if you have bad voltage drop, i would then invest in a new alt. you already have good batts, big 3, so next would be the alt

I just don't understand why the subs keep going and the door speakers stop
