Comments, opinions, advice?

New to this forum. I'm not really new to car audio but I would say that I have a pretty basic knowledge of how things work. My truck is an '03 Ranger Supercab. I have a Pioneer DEH-6300UB head unit and a Planet Audio RXD650 amp pushing 2 Alpine SWR-1240's wired at 2 ohms. The subs are in a slot vented box. The rest of the speakers in the truck are stock but I plan to replace them eventually and run them off a 400x4 amp. I have a hard time believing (based on the way it sounds to me) that I am only getting 450 watts rms at 2 ohms out of my Planet Audio amp. It sounds alot louder than that. Unfortunatly my Alpines are at the end of their lives and I am looking for something to replace them with. I want DVC's so I can make my amp actually work. Basically I'm looking for any suggestions, opinions, or advice you guys have on good quality DVC 12's for under $170 a piece. I have seen some brands that I'm not familiar with and am hesitant about them. Just to narrow it down a bit, I don't like Kicker, I have a tendancy to blow Fosgates apart, JL it too expensive and just about every other "major" brand seems to be too cheaply made lately. I was looking at the Sundown E-12 and the RE SEX12D4. I know that they are two very different subs but I found the RE's for $160 a piece. Oh and so you guys don't have to research my amp at all...it's advertised ratings are 250rms x1 @ 4 ohms, 450rms x1 @ 2 ohms, 650rms x1 @ 1 ohm, and 950x1 max. Thanks in advance.

welcome a lot of good knowledge here and people i would sugest dc audio, sundown aduio,skar aduio, fi audio and Ascendant Audio just to name a few

Yeah I was looking at Skar too... Ascendant and fi... I looked, I drooled, I saw the price tag and I moved on. No doubt they are worth the money but that is money I don't have.

You can tale a look at the Audioque Street Duty SDC2.5 or the Obsidian 12" or the SSA DCON for SQ all are excellent and very inexpensive and can work with the little amp.
