blew a front speaker.. looking to uprgade

for about 2 years now i have been running a set of ID ctx65cs components off a MB quart dsc4125 which does 125x4 @4ohms and 250x4 @ 2ohms, and i liked it, but i blew the drivers side mid coming home from work the other day, and i figure now is a good time to upgrade.

what do you guys thing about this package deal?http://www.wooferset...r-speakers.aspxseeing as how i want to get some rear fill speakers anyway, seems like a good deal to me, any input on those components?

im assuming that the rms rating that they have listed is just for the front component set that comes with it, because if you go to the component speakers themselveshttp://www.woofersetc.com/p-5023-cl-62-cdt-audio-65-2-way-component-speakers.aspx, it lists them as 160 watts rms. so would that be 160 watts per side or 160 watts for both sides?

how about this set http://www.wooferset...ker-system.aspx ive ran the old cadence cvl-5k components a while ago and liked them, but these seem miles better

couple factors lead me to belive these could get loud

2" voice coil, could probably take more power then 120 watts per side

3ohm, will get to see more power then a 4ohm component set would

94db sensitivity (i went to the cadence website to confirm that one) thats the factor that makes me think that these should get louder then most other component sets ive looked at off the same power.

They look a lot like the ppi power class speakers, i would stay away from them at all cost.

The larger coil means less excursion and a total lack of midbass or any bass for that matter while they are a nice set to look at the performance isn't there to justify the cost of the set.

If your going to spend that much look into the Hybrid Audio Unity set.

whats the RMS on that set? will they get loud? well lets put it this way, do they get louder then the ID CTX's (if you've heard them)

Have not heard the CDT's personally so i can't comment on them, but here is the manual on the hybrids.

i think i made up my mind, since i like my ctx's i may just step up and grab the cxs's http://www.woofersetc.com/p-7173-cxs62-v2-image-dynamics-65-2-ohm-component-system.aspx now the question is 2 ohm or 4 ohm, if i grab the 4 ohm ones they would get 125 watts per side, and if i go for the 2 ohm ones they would get 250 per side, now i know headroom is a good thing, but is 250 per side too much? ive heard these speakers can take alot of power but that seems like alot to me.

I run that same exact set of CDT's.Have had them for 2 years and sound good to me, but i know there is better out there. I feel they lack in the midbass. But for the price, go for it. And i think the rating on them at 180rms is total for the set, not 180 per woofer/tweeter combo. I've been pushing mine with a Rockford Fosgate Power 1000 5 channel for a while ( 110rms per channel) and a cresendo 1000c4 ( 125 per ).

Been to a few shops and have heard the new arc audio black series and can say they sound amazing considering it's a new line from them but i guess when you have the guy designing the F1 status for alpine designing them they better well sound good and my friend keeps trying to get me to buy some.

I would go to as many local shops as you can and listen to as many different sets as you can and make a well informed decision on what to buy.
