knightsfs4 Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 I have 2 12" Alpine Type R's @ 2 Ohms with a Kicker 750.1 Amp. I've noticed a loud rattle lately and I figured it was just a panel loose. I finally had time to check it out and just one of my subs is clipping really hard. I don't know why one is doing it and the other isnt but its happening. What's up with this? Jack

Anyone who says a DD-1 isnt necessary is also saying an O-scope isnt necessary. Anyone who says an O-scope IN THE MINIMUM isnt necessary, is a noob. Forget the DD-1 for a minute, any reputable installer will at LEAST use an O-scope. Those guys in that thread are clowns. Hard headed clowns.
skittlesRgood Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 i highly doubt you can hear clipping from just one sub. you cant have one sub receive a clipped signal and the other one doesnt, when they are on the same amp. im guessing you hear the sub making a mechanical noise thats a result of a failure. broken triple joint, ripped spider, bottomed out coil, slinkied coil, etc. your best bet for us helping you is to make a good video of the problem so we can hear the noise you hear. knightsfs4 Posted March 16, 2012 Author Report Posted March 16, 2012 Right now I have the gain and low pass at half way with the bass boost all the way down. I know I have it wired to 2 Ohms so I don't know what the problem could be.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed.
