But, we have very little 5.56 and a shitload of .223. I've heard that you can do it, but I just want confirmation and not rumors. The 5.56 is a nato cartridge and is used by the military it is a little thicker in diamater than a .223 cartridge and they usually shoot hotter meaning they fire at a higher speed. a gun that is chambered in 5.56 they call a wylde chambering meaning it is bigger than the case inteded for it so if you have a .223 that has a wylde chamber you can shoot 5.56 in it as long as the receiver is strong enough to take the pressure of a 5.56 case which all modern rifles are capable of.
