Jason Delaney
got a Fosagte t1500.bcpd 2010 model amp an im going to roll with 1 12 Fi Q sub in a 2000 Ford mustang i listen to hip hop/Rnb not tryn to compete jus llookin for a setup to do mostly SQ with a lil SPL but sounding good is most important... The things I'm not to clear are 1. What type box to build it in... I'm thinkin sealed but havent been around car audio for awhile so didnt know if there are better options like a bandpass or ported for what Im lookin to acheive 2. Sub aiming - Which way to aim the box.... I have fold down rear seats so could fire them str8 in the front.... My rear deck has 2 speaker openings and a vent in the middle so firing them up into the rear deck is an option.... and then the common way of firing back into the trunk. im sure theres probably no perfect answer jus lookin for some advice to narrow it down

runner800
You have enough power that you wouldn't need to worry about sub control sealed boxes if they are bigger can handle more power but if it was my system I would build a ported box at about 33hz and aim the sub in the traditional direction, I really prefer the sound of ports to sealed, better extension and if you pollyfill the box they have excelent roll off, I like to crossover at about 200hz btw
Skullz
With enough power sealed will be the way to go for the sub and it is usually best to point the sub back against the trunk so the sound wave has time to develop. White Lightning
You do know that sub bass is not your rear fill or rear stage in sound quality ... Correct ?? Rear stage (normally reffered to as stage depth) should be the back part of your front stage ... hence the word "rear stage" (should be located around the front of your hood of the vehicle) ... Rear fill (rear ambience) is usually created with midbass drivers or tweeters ... Mostly on low power (just like in a home theatre) ... Your sub stage (in SQ) should be a "up front" and "on the dash" response, regardless of where the subs are in the vehicle ... Anything else (SQL) its just a sub stage ... Also, a good tuning on a SQ sub enclosure (ported) should be around 22 to 28 htz ... For maximum driver control ... and MOST vehicles in SQ ... crossover is set to or around 40 to 50 htz ... (hope you have plenty of headroom, and good enough midbass drivers to pick up the slack) ... Make sense ??
