Dampen trunk lid only

I want to sound deaden my trunk lid and my rear deck cause they vibrate like crazy but will just deadening the trunk lid and deck be enough and is it enought to make the bass alittle louder in the cabin area? Is dynamat good enough??

Maybe you will need sme carpet or something to hold on some panels that are touching each other. Lots os rattles come from plastic panels touching each other or metal.

find each rattle : where is it ? And then try to solve your problem. you may not have to buy any products if you're lucky.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Less rattles? Increased dBs?

What both my colleagues have said is spot on. Rattles can actually be dealt with much more cheaply by using foam or some other sort of isolator installed between the sheet metal and the trim. And just because you used deadener doesn't mean you'll see an increase in dBs. Yes more often than not you will, but you can see a drop... just the nature of SPL.

Sound deadener is designed to reduce panel resonance/structural borne noise, which can lead to rattles. Thus using it to reduce rattles can help but isn't necessarily the best solution.

Basically im just trying to get rid of the rattles, my rear deck flexes a bit and the plastic peices on it rattle and out side the car my trunk just vibrates and its really noticable and you can hear it in the car just a bit. My system is just a daily driver so im not trying to gain deebs but i read that usually deadener makes it a bit louder because the bass cant escape so that would be cool i also want to put some deadener behind my front door speakers that are my midbass too

Ok, I would suggest going with a little bit of sound deadener (your choice, lots of high quality options out there) on the rear deck and take a look at what and where exactly it is rattling and getting something installed between the sheet metal and the plastic trim to isolate it. No need to go insane and cover every square inch with sound deadener. I'd say maybe 2-3 sq. ft. for most rear decks MAX.

The above method can be applied to the doors as well with great results.

A few companies (ourselves included) make what are known as deflex pads. These are a great, cheap, and effective way to get a bit more out of your door speakers.
