I noticed one sub wasn't working so I took it out and noticed the speaker one of the wires fell off inside the box and the rubber and plastic was melted off and black..what would cause this? getlocivic Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 really using cheap monster 14g for subs.. i use that for my mids n highs you need quality 12 g or 10g wire hell 8g wire will work too you simply have too much current going thru that small of a wire ive NEVR had a melted wire before Quote

Jaloosk Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I use 12g on my front speakers and 10g on my sub. If you're running 2000w at 14v you're able to run a max of 140A through your speaker wire.
