cjazzy
I'm thinking about upgrading my 1997 mercury grand marquis ls sound system.....I aiming for a mid level sq sound experience. I plan not to use the factory amp at all. Will 6 1/2 speakers work in the front doors? will i have to modify? Do i have the correct wiring harness for the pioneer avh-p4400bh to connect? How extensive of a modification must be done to make the pioneer avh-p4400bh fit in the dash? Will i have to install new wires for speakers to perform the best? Do I need to consider a sound processor? which one? Brandon_4078
Crutchfield is an awesome site for telling you what speakers will fit where. Sonicelectronix does this as well but not sure if its quite as reliable. Bigger wire is always a good thing as long as the conections are secure. Kind of wondering what others will say though cause I can get an amp bypass harness for my setup and wondering if the factory wire is at least safe (with out buring at 100 rms). photochrisb931
The 6.5's are not a straight drop in with an adapter. The metal in the center of the door speaker may need to be cut out and a panel fabricates to fit the hole. I opted for the scosche 5.25 adapter for my components instead of cutting. Mine is a 96 Marquis. Barstad
cjazzy
So the 5.25 is a better fit in the Mercury Grand Marquis?.......Did you get the cdt equipment? Did you install it yourself? Shops....I'm finding out try to rip you off when they find out you not buying there "suggested" equipment? Was installing this equipment easy for you? CleanSierra
SQ Is a term that is getting thrown around too lightly these days. True SQ requires TONS of knowledge and time tuning a system to get it right. It also requires serious money as well. Advice is here to be given, but please keep an open mind and know that just because it's not 10K in wattage and crazy amounts of cone area, that it's "SQ". Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
