knockin'hoe97 Posted June 11, 2012 Author Report Posted June 11, 2012 ok its been a while and i never ended up getting vids lol but im onto something else...for now im doing a temporary build to tie me over til the real build starts in a few months....the temporary build for now is gonna be 2 15" xl m2s on a dc 5k....the aq2200s are already sold and the 5k has already been ordered....also the truck needed some sound deadener so i just picked up a little bit of it for now to try it out since its my first time messing with sound deadener....went ahead and pulled headliner of and i actually have a question....not 100% sure but i think there was already 4 small sheet of deadener above the back seat....does a tahoe come stock with some or did one of the owners before me do that lol....it wasn't very sticky and came off pretty easy so idk....also if yall have some tips on deadening i would be more than happy to learn since this is my first time lol....any how just a few pics while i was taking it down on the way back home with a few sheets of mdf....stuff is gettin kinda expensive lol headliner almost out and here is that sound deadener stuff that was in it already
knockin'hoe97 Posted June 11, 2012 Author Report Posted June 11, 2012 and another question....i don't have these rear (4x10s i think) hooked up but should i remove them or just keep them there to fill space...not sure if removing them would help remove a little rattle or what. so opinions on that too?
87chevyboi Posted June 11, 2012 Report Posted June 11, 2012 i got a 97 tahoe and yes they have factory deadener. i seen that wen i took my headliner out a couple weeks ago and was like wtf lol but i put second skin spectrum over it, also i left my speakers in the rear but i cut them out for 6x9's i dont know if that will matter but if you take them out it wont hurt you just wont havve them back there lol. btw nice tahoe loving the build My build aka Snow White whats wrong with fat chicks? they are like mopeds, as long as your friends dont see you riding it, they are a blast! hahah I am dumb as a stump. I live in the south and we are all dumb here.

CJ18 Posted June 12, 2012 Report Posted June 12, 2012 Second skin is real sticky, make sure you are putting it where you want it when you stick it up. Use it on all big open spaces of metal and I would use it on any cross braces on the roof also to keep them from rattling also.

87chevyboi Posted June 12, 2012 Report Posted June 12, 2012 put it everywhere it is very good and will do the job great. i love second skin, and the spectrum is badass i love it. if i was you id pick some of it up for the money you cant beat the coverage you'll get. Its great. i Put it on the roof and the drivers and passenger front seats area. After the console back to the back door with second skin and fatmat. CJ18 Posted June 12, 2012 Report Posted June 12, 2012 Absolutely go over the cross braces with as much over hang on either side onto flat surface that you can. This should prevent rattle and hopefully keep the braces from breaking. Another thing to look into before you do that is I believe 3m makes the panel bond that I have seen a few people here use. You can use that to bond the brace to the roof and then use the deadener over the brace
