D-train-13k
I've got an onx4.125 It's got 8ohm to each channel for the time being until more mids come in tomorrow. But it'll play all day at low volume but when I go full tilt it goes into protect after a few seconds of playtime. I felt the amp and it's pretty warm but definitely not toasty. Any ideas why this could be happening. I'm thinking it's because te impedance is too high and just causing too much heat too quickly. I'm not an amp guru so I'll take any advice. Tomorrow I'm getting two more mids and it will have both front channels wired to 8 ohm which is the super tweeter. an the two rear channels which are the two mids paralleled down to 4 ohm I had this on my previous amp which was the same amp just I screwed it up and the input signal was egged up. So they sent me a brand new amp and it's only had power for a couple days. Need help guys. Kyblack76
no expert on anything here.. but is there any way, just to trouble shoot, go at the amp, wire the 2- 8ohm channels, to 4, and crank it up, and see if it stays playing? just to see? CleanSierra
How could such a high ohm load cause that much heat? What's the ground look like where it's mounted on the vehicle? That doesn't make any sense to me that it could protect with 8 ohms. Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
D-train-13k
It's grounded to my buss bars. And I'll just wait until the other mids are in tomorrow to see what happens. D-train-13k
It actually just went into protect again after 10 min of playing at a mid volume. I don't know what the deal is. The amp is brand new Edit: all I have to do is turn the radio off and back on. And it comes out of protect Edited April 5, 2012 by D-train-13k Quote The IrishmanCheck out my build hereXL 4th order wall build logIn Progress:alpine cda HU4th order Bandpass2xl 15's1- ab 400.1 (gonna be two hopefully)4- Crescendo 8's2- xts crecendo supertweeters 2 sq super tweetsMb quart 4.125Mechman 270a alt1- xs D27003- xs XP3000 4- odessey pc1700seller feed back threadhttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/136418-d-train-13k/

D-train-13k
I'm gonna be pissed if I have to trash this amp. D-train-13k
As of right now all channels measure between 6-7 ohms. I find that weird seeing as how all are supposed to be at 8 ohm Quote The IrishmanCheck out my build hereXL 4th order wall build logIn Progress:alpine cda HU4th order Bandpass2xl 15's1- ab 400.1 (gonna be two hopefully)4- Crescendo 8's2- xts crecendo supertweeters 2 sq super tweetsMb quart 4.125Mechman 270a alt1- xs D27003- xs XP3000 4- odessey pc1700seller feed back threadhttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/136418-d-train-13k/
