Old amp question

Here is my set up:

Pioneer deh-p8300ub head unit

Oddessey Dry cell Deep cycle battery

Powermaster 140A alternator

Crossfire VR1000d=subs

Crossfire VR404=mids highs

2 Elipse 4x6 front dash

4 Pioneer 5-way 6x9 rear deck

4 Kicker CVR122 12s in trunk

Custom box with 4 6" ports

1988 Chevy Caprice Classic

Here is my problem:

My Crossfire VR404 intermitently goes in and out of protect mode. This problem just started about a week ago. when I can catch it and open the trunk, I see that the green and red lights are flickering opposite of each other. So my mids and highs are on for 3 seconds and off for 3 seconds and on and off and on.....well you get the picture. I have not changed anything, so I don't believe that the ohm load has changed. It is the same set up that has been in the car since 2004. If it is the first time of the day that I play it, it will work for about 20-30 minutes. and after that I usually only get about 10 minutes sometimes less.

Is it because the weather is getting hot that the amp is too hot(which has never happened in past summers), or is my amp just too darn old?

Sounds like an amp problem internally that you'll want to take in and have checked out.
