jrchevy87 Posted April 17, 2012 Report Share Posted April 17, 2012 I've heard that a subwoofer will have a hard time reproducing bass below its resonance frequency and I'm wondering how true this is. It is simply the resonance of the parts in an anechoic free air environment..that's it...a place that it will never be in. It does not mean it will play lower.. You can take a sub with a 40Hz Fs and slap it in a 20Hz ported enclosure and it will still play 20Hz fine...the environment plays more of a role then anything. Unless you have a wee tiny little coil and no linear excursion.
