DC subs tend to smell a lot easier/ faster than others. its not a strong "clippin the shit out of them" smell, just a light electrical smell.

yea it aint a strong smell u can just smell it really good bcuz it pushes so much air

My level 5 never smelled on 3.5k. I had a level 2 8m1 that never smelled. But the rest, yeah.

If you used track 3, then you used a -5db tone. track 1 is 40hz 0db. Did you use the dd1 to tune your headunit as well and find your maximum undistorted volume?

I remember tripping out thinking I was clipping it when I smelled it haha. Panic stricken.

im the same way lol i used track 1 i thought it was 3

The only time I have gotten any of mine to smell is when I knew i was pushing them past the point that i needed to and was clipping. I didnt get my m2 Level 3s to smell until I re tuned my amp with the -15db track trying to milk a few more 1/10ths from them to get to a 155. Never made my m1 XLs or m1 5s stinky on the warhorse a few years ago either.

My XL stank when I first got it off of a pdx 600. I think it's just some excess glue burning off.
