slmd95s10
i have 8 SVC 8" 2ohm subs i would like to use for my HT sub. how could i wire these to get a 4 ohm final load so i wont fry my reciever/amplifier? 2003 Chevy Avalanche Z66 Headunit: Pioneer AVIC-F700BT Amps: US Amps XT4000D, US Amps XT 1600.4 Front Stage: CDT Audio EF-61FG 6 1/2" components Rear: Pioneer coax's Sub Stage: RE SE15D4's
roscoe1129
take 4 of the subs and parallel them = 2ohms take 4 more of them and parallel them = 2 ohms take the two sets and series them together = 4ohms Some people need a sympathetic pat... on the head...with my hammer Scientia est Vox "In Nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti" DONT BE AFRAID TO USE THE SEARCH BUTTON!!! MickyMcD
As you have stated, you have Single Voice Coil woofers with an impedance of two ohms. Therefore, the above solution will not give you a final load of four ohms. The correct method will be to place two woofers in series so you have four pairs of woofers. Parallell two pairs together, then series the groups. To aid you, I have done up a circuit diagram. However, this solution will not give you the exact value of four ohms. You will have approximately 6.4ohms at the terminals. Adding in extra factors, this may deviate slightly. I must warn you, running eight woofers off of a home cinema reciever is not a good idea. All eight woofers will not be used to their maximum potential, as most HT amplifiers are solid state amplifiers around 150w. Also, your damping factor will be affected considerably. But, your design is your design. Good luck and I hope it works out. As per usual, if you build it.... ...post some fuggin pics. roscoe1129
damn I feel dumb, I thought he said they were 4 ohms each ......
