CleanSierra
I used those same Allen head screws for one of my boxes too it looked awesome, just like yours do. I did, however have an issue with a couple of them being torqued so hard into my T-nuts it spun one of two the nuts free from their set position. And another one actually froze into the threads from heat and never freed itself. I had to grind the head off to get my subwoofer out of the enclosure. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra
Great work, I always enjoy seeing updates on this build. Also, I'm glad you had a good time in INDIA. Tarball
I had a problem with the t-nuts initially also, they wouldnt bit the wood, or they would spin like you said, one froze up also, I pulled all of those out and stepped up on the t-nuts budget and got stainless steel t-nuts, quality material makes all the difference. Also, used rubberized CA where the t-nut meets the wood. So I have to be really careful with the so I dont crossthread, CURRENT SYSTEM: Alternator: Stock alt on mids/highs Isolated DC Power 270 SP - Charging @ 16.8v Batteries: (2) XS D1400s Power Cable: Double Runs of 1/0 KNU Kolossus Fleks Headunit: 80-PRS Sub Amp: DC 5.0k Subwoofers: 2 RE MT 15s /PSI dual .7ohm recones Subwoofer Enclosure: 9.1cubes @ 32hz - brutal. CleanSierra
I knew I should have used better hardware. I've wanted to go to threaded inserts, but no one around has them. Something like this: http://www.rockler.com/m/product.cfm?page=362 Sorry to clutter you thread with this BS Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. Something like this: http://www.rockler.com/m/product.cfm?page=362 Sorry to clutter you thread with this BS I don't consider it clutter - good discussion on mounting hardware. I'ver used something like that before to hold the "lid" on a bandpass box before. Given I could do a much better job now than I did 15 or so years ago but it ate up the hole instead of allowing it to get tight. My fault though, I was trying to seal it with no real gasket. Just a strip of leather. Oh well, live and learn. They're usually in the drawers in the hardware section where the screws, bolts, etc, are at. I've gotten mine there before. Tarball
Well, I've been slacking on the build and now there is a comp in my town TODAY!! This is the only real event that happens near me for the whole year so...let's see if I can get this box assembled today I put a couple of cheap 12s in the bed to have some beat and made a short vid. Helped to get me motivated again. Just a couple of TMA 12s at about 4ohms on the sub amp. The video is distorted to all hell but that's the cheap mic on the phone.
