Herokight Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 I'm considering giving a 4th order a shot in the future, the problem is I'm not sure if it would even be worth it with the subs I currently have, and I don't have much experience at planning an enclosure beyond sealed. I'm running two Rockford Fosgate R1 woofers at 150wrms. Does this even seem worth the time? They really get down for $70 subs, and the main reason I'm considering it is to put an external port through my armrest hole so I don't have to keep my seat down since they are front firing and sealed into my cab. Any advice guys? It's not like I'm gonna jump on this tomorrow(or even next week or next month for that matter), I just get ideas and like to see what I can come up with. john253a Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 To my knowledge the r1 are designed for sealed and ported is not recommend, How cuft net do you have them in, If there already at max recomemend on max power then idd suggest maybe looking for a better sub more suites to you application, 2 12" seales in 3-3.5cuft net on 150 each should be giving you plenty of the good stuff, Edit Have a look into t-line enclosures It may suit your subs

I've heard they are optimized for sealed enclosures. I've also heard people have tried ported boxes and it turned out really well. I just figured anything is worth a shot. I have them in a prefab box with two chambers, 1cuft each and polyfilled. I don't really have enough money right now for another box, just looking through my options of expanding on what I have. john253a Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 If there only in 1cuft prefab then that's more then likely gross not net Idd spend the $40-50 and make a box to spec. 1.5-1.75net each and you'll have a much better sound. It's still no comparison to ported but compared to what you have it will be a big improvement.
