I think most people will agree that it's better to have an amp that overpowers rather than underpowers; you can always turn it down. That allows you to upgrade the sub later on should you decide you want to. Though, based on the ratings (I don't know how accurate Audioque rates), the 1200 should also do pretty well if you want to save money. Regardless, get the AQ2200, wire it to 4 or 2 ohms, and adjust the gains accordingly.
