Wicks
Interested to see where you go with the volt meter/bass knob. The E46 M3 is probably my favorite BMW to date. Mine too, favorite car that I've owned/driven by far. Yeah, hopefully my little fabrication project works out. Been busy on the box lately so not much progress on that yet... Wicks
Anybody have experience with Bluetooth mics? I really didn't want to tear apart my A-pillars to run a microphone up to the overhead console. So I found a neat spot on my center console that I figured would work just as good and be stealthy. I drilled a hole near the cig lighter Then mounted the mic right behind the hole. Looks alright and you'd never notice it if it wasn't pointed out. Although a tried a call with it and the sound was all muffled and didn't work very well... Ohhhh well. Wicks
On with the build. Used the spiral-saw to cut out the port openings on the top cover of the box. Of course had to do some roundovers on the underside to help airflow. Here we go! First panel to be glued together (in the car only). Then the baffle (the side not clamped is just there for alignment). While that was gluing, I went to glue the top cover to the port assembly (again making great use of my stock battery) Later on in the build you'll see why I wish I had better 90degree bracing on these pieces... While more glue is drying, I drilled some holes in my plexi for the rear panel. Being again cautious, I used my hole jig to make them as straight as possible. To keep the holes identical, I drilled through the plexi and rear panel at the same time. Threaded inserts added to the rear panel, to allow easy removal of plexi should I need to (swapping subs, changing wiring, etc) Ninja pic Before I could glue down the right side piece, I needed to fab this bracket and get it attached to the frame cuz I wouldn't have easy access once the box was fully assembled. More on that later... Right side glued Using a wedge to apply downward pressure on the panel. I didn't like how the pocket hole screws were working so I stopped using them. They tended to either slide the piece out of flush or causes a gap between pieces.
