SMD Tools are Visually-Impaired User-Friendly

I chose to write about this for those of you who may suffer with vision problems, such as myself. My vision being between 20/800 and 20/1,000 (in my left eye; my right eye is useless), it's not exactly easy to see many of things, especially in car audio. For those curious, I was born with Glaucoma.

I was watching many of Meade's videos on how to use the DD-1 and a short vid of the CC-1 (last year, or early this year). I do not own either of these products, and would love to. However, with the fact funds are not exactly cooperating right now, it's not exactly easy (hence why I'm constantly looking for work).

I've actually had people tell me "What buisness do you have doing car audio if you can't drive?"...

I just tell them "Why not? It's fun, and gives me a bigger challenge than most things I've done", which is true.

I've always been about trying to motivate others like me, or even those who are well, to step up to challenges. Don't let handicaps get you down, and definitely do NOT let anyone else tell you you have no buisness doing something you enjoy. Besides who are they to tell you? They're not your daddy! LOL!

Anyways, back to the subject at hand.

After watching a cimparison video of the O-Scope and the DD-1, I was thinking to myself "that O-Scope has a pretty good size screen... That is until I saw one in person at Fry's. I was shocked at how little it was. I was playing with one and I couldn't even see the wave form on the screen and where it was going or what level it was at. Then I got to thinking.. "The DD-1 has a bright red light that tells you when you're distorting... That is much easier to acknowledge...". I've never physically seen the unit size-wise in person, but it looks to be plenty big enough that the lights are well lit and easy to spot. I could tell that in a well lit video... And it's mobile. When I get my hands on one, I will make a video and show a lot of my friends (who are also visually impaired) that LITERALLY anyone can set a gain Even if you can't seel too well.

"What about someone who's totally blind?" I could see the DD-1 being modified with a circuit that activates a small buzzer or something when the clipping begins, however I don't see that being necessary, for I'm sure if you're totally blind, you'll have SOME help.

What about the CC-1? The blue "target" light (as I call it) seems to be brighter than the green lights that surround it, so I can see how that'd be easy to determine for someone like myself. Again, I never seen one of these units in person, but from what the video shows, it should be no different than the DD-1 but a blue light rather than a red.

Just wanted to share this thought. Maybe someone who can't see well (who knows who's out there) may take this into consideration and pick these tools up for themselves. I will when I can, for sure!

on the lines of the can't drive but do audio, i personally get the majority of enjoyment busting my ass and getting pissed off in my truck doing an install, it just makes the end result that much sweeter. And if you can find someone who know or a friend who like car audio or car shows, do your install(s), have them drive you up to some shows, you can demo for others, etc. just a thought. could have some extra fun with it. but on the lines of being almost blind, you can still hear the highs and still feel the bass.

I plan to eventually get to the point where I can have a system worth demoing. I have a small setup right now (see sig). I've modified a prefab box for the MTX. It does decent (for what it is). I have a Crossfire XS V1 12" that I am trying to get an amp for (saving is a pain haha) and I plan to put it in a 6th order type dual reflex box just to see what I can get out of it, as an experiment. I know BP baxes are a pain, and if worst comes to worse, I'll end up just building a simple box.
