Its about 2x maybe more stronger than MDF and lighter, but cost a pretty bit more for real birch. The ones at like home depot is cheap birch. Yes birch, and the things wrapped around the box are called "strap clamps" not just tie-downs, if you work alone, it's awesome! Also "corner clamps" google it!
