RooTxBeeR
So I am going to be getting a 15" IVX and i was thinking about putting it in a 4th order box. Anyone know if these go well with 4th orders? Also I did try to search up about 4th orders but for some reason no matter which way I tried to search for info on 4th orders, I couldn't get good results. Can people get me general tips and guidelines to follow when building 4th orders. whats the ratio for sealed to ported? ideal tunings? what to base tunings off of? Rich65
Im doing the same thing, trying to figure out 4th orders. Have you called or emailed the manufacturer to see if they have any info on 4th order?.
RooTxBeeR
I posted in their subforum asking if they can work with them. I just read in another topic that a possible rule of thumb is subs with a T/S parameter QTS is over .4 they will be good for them, and this has .46 and has a fs of 24.5hz so it definitely can get low. I have yet to purchase it, I will have a $90 paycheck next week, so I will be buying it quite soon. I was looking for this topic to just get some general tips on when designing 4th orders. Rich65
Well yeah thats the first thing i did also was to check to see if the sub will work. I used this formula from somewhere i forget. (EBP= 1/qes * FS). And with that number it says 100 or more is ported or 6th order. 50 or less is sealed or 4th order and between 50-100 is any but im guessing they wont work as well but still work. The problem im having probably like you is getting the correct chamber size and port size. I tried using the software online but I cant figure it out, so im going to bug the manufacturer till they give me chamber sizes.
RooTxBeeR
Main thing I jsut want to know is about the ratio, if its 1:2 does that mean the 1 is the normal rated for sealed and the 2 is just 2 x that size, or 2 size the size of what rec ported is for the sub. I did that formula you said and I got a 12.546 or sealed or 4th, looks like it will work by 2 things I have seen so far. Guest
2:1 isnt the magical number in bandpasses. and if this is your first one, i seriously think you should have a good designer draw one up for you edit: but if you want to learn and understand them, then by all means go for it Edited May 10, 2012 by Kranny
