Say if you have bass,mid,treble & the bass is too overpowering so you turn it down, wouldn't that be the same as keeping the bass the same & turning the mid & treble up. As long as you have a clean signal it shouldn't matter. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not a Musical Engineering expert so I could be wrong. no, if you turn up something past flat you are increasing the signal and risking clipping and distortion. and more bands aren't always better. i have a 28 band e.q. and it seems like i am always tweaking something. but i always cut, never boost.
